The first NLP workshop@ELLIS took place on 24th-25th February 2021 via a virtual meeting platform. It had the purpose to share insights, discuss emerging topics and define a strategic roadmap for the field, under the title "Open Challenges and Future Directions of NLP". LUMLIS member
André Martins, who leads the recently established
ELLIS NLP program together with Iryna Gurevych and Ivan Titov, was one of the workshop co-chairs.
The first PhD and postdoc symposium of the Lisbon ELLIS Unit took place on September 22nd 2023, and was attended by 50 students and postdocs from various fields, including Robotics, Reinforcement Learning, Natural Language Processing and Computer Vision.
The ELLIS, AI4media, and AIDA Symposium on Large Language and Foundation Models brought together a notable lineup of speakers, panelists, and organisers from different AI subdisciplines in Europe to one of the most advanced technology capitals, Amsterdam. The event was successfully convened on 17-18 October, 2023 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, under the umbrella of ELLIS, AIDA, and AI4Media, with a view of drawing in a diverse AI population on the topic. The event was co-organised by ELLIS units in Amsterdam, Lisbon, Edinburgh and Darmstadt.
